The Zone

The Zone is the name of the Education Improvement Partnership (EIP) in North Islington. It has evolved from the former Education Action Zone, a partnership of over 20 schools: 2 nursery; 15 primary and 3 secondary schools. The Trust continues to provide sponsorship to the zone in the form of the seconded Projector Director. CEA@Islington is the major zone partner.

The main aim of The Zone (Education Improvement Partnership) is to support sustainable development within its schools by focussing on teacher-centred development of classroom practice and by providing mutual support and challenge.

The Zone builds on the success of the former EAZ and continues to focus on professional development and early intervention. The Zone has a very effective, Hands on Support programme that won the 2006 BECTA award for Advice and Support.

The Zone priorities:

1: To enhance the quality of leadership and management to ensure sustainable development.

2: Raising the quality of teaching and learning by adding value particularly exploiting the use of ICT and work with parents.

3: To provide professional development programmes to help teachers to extend their knowledge, skills and expertise, particularly using ICT.
