Wave 3 – an individual support programme

This is a Wave 3 intervention to support children in Years 1 and 2 who are working at upper 'P' or 1C.  Children receive daily one to one support for 15-20 minutes.  Teachers and Teaching assistants participate in an intensive three-day training that enhances their understanding of the needs of these children and provides a structure for individual support.

Hi-Five – individual/small group support programme
Write Away Together

Write Away Together is about responding to children's independent writing. It involves a trained partner working with an individual or small group twice a week.  Assessment for learning is at the heart of every lesson.  It is equally effective as a whole school training.

One-to-one tuition for Literacy

This training helps tutors address areas relating to specific individual pupil progress. The training does not provide a scripted programme, but a process which encourages active and independent learning in reading and writing. It provides the 'how' we move a pupil's reading and writing.

It uses reading and writing approaches that are known to be successful. The file also provides a section on approaches to spelling and strategies to support ways of learning new words.

Firm Foundations – a Home/School Programme

Firm Foundations offers a series of 36 activity packs that schools can use to enhance parents’ understanding of children’s learning in the Early Years. The objectives of each activity were aligned to the Foundation Stage Stepping Stones and Early Learning Goals in the area of communication, language and literacy. They are now aligned also to the EYFS curriculum.  Although designed as a home-school programme, it is also a useful resource within any Early Years setting.
