Data Analysis Project
Helping LEAs and Schools to make more effective use of Performance Data is a key

The Zone
The North Islington (Excellence in Cities) Zone began life as a statutory Education
Action Zone in 2000. After five years it transformed into an EIC zone but continues
in its mission to provide additional support to raise pupils' standards of achievement.
Over recent years the zone has been able to raise pupil attainment and the quality
of teaching and learning by its focus on continuous professional development and
early intervention. It has also been at the forefront of using ICT effectively and
the Hands on Support programme has been recognized by BECTA as a model of good practice.
Success For All
The Success for All Literacy programme is based on extensive research into co-operative
learning and offers an innovative and unique approach towards teaching children
to read and write. There is an emphasis on prevention and early intervention to
respond to any child's learning problems and avoid early reading failure. We provide
a synthetic approach to teaching phonics in the early years, which we believe is
the ignition to all reading and writing.
